The Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute (COI) at MidState Medical Center celebrated its grand opening October 16, 2017. The 14,500-square-foot institute includes 11 operating rooms and 21 private inpatient rooms brings together some of Connecticut’s best orthopaedic surgeons from Connecticut Orthopaedics Specialists and Comprehensive Orthopaedics.
At the event, COS leadership shared their vision for the new center: In his remarks Glenn Elia, CEO, pointed out that the partnership with Hartford HealthCare was a unique opportunity for us to work closely with hospital leadership and staff to design the hospital within a hospital. Integrating physician and staff ideas into the way care is delivered is critical to creating an environment that is truly focused on the patient. He added that the level of collaboration we have come to know at COI is unsurpassed
Dr. John McCallum, Medical Director of COI, talked about how impressed he has been every day with the work this team has done together. He pointed out that every detail of this institute has been painstakingly debated, researched, practiced, reviewed, tracked and refined – and despite all that, they are still working to improve it. He ended by saying that we celebrate coming together with our physician partners who helped build something very unique and special here at COI.
