Running & Sports Panel Set for March 23rd

Once again, Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists and divisions (The Orthopaedic Group and The Center for Orthopaedics) are proud sponsors of the Cheshire Half Marathon and 5K Road Race. This annual race will take place April 24th and registration if now open. This event is expected to draw over 3,000 participants.

The Running and Sports Panel is comprised of speakers from various sport and medical professions. Each speaker will make a brief introduction followed by an open question and answer session with attendees. The focus of this year’s panel will be to answer individual attendee’s questions.

Panel Speakers include:

  • Matt Santillo, experienced runner and long-time Woodbridge Running Company employee, answer questions about running shoes and training.
  • Dr. Jeffrey DeLott of Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists has extensive experience in all aspects of foot and ankle care injuries. Dr. DeLott is a Cheshire resident and avid triathlete and marathon finisher.
  • Dr. Stephanie Arlis - Mayor of Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists practices Primary Care Sports Medicine. She assists patients in their return to athletics after injury and deals extensively with concussion management.
  • Kirsten Albrecht, owner of Physical Therapy and Pilates Restoration, L.L.C., is an orthopedic specializing as a physical therapist and is a certified Pilates practitioner.
  • Sports Psychologist Dr. Sheryl Smith works with athletes to improve performance.

The forum will help prepare runners for the 5th Annual Ion Bank Cheshire Half Marathon & 5K. The event on April 24 is expecting over 3,000 participants and features a half marathon, relay, 5K, Ion Insurance Kids Fun Run. The event also features the UnitedHealthcare Healthy & Active Living Festival. The Cheshire Half Marathon and 5K, Inc. supports organizations that assist special needs individuals and their families. This year’s race benefits Abilities Without Boundaries, SARAH Foundation, Best Buddies CT, Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Cheshire Lions Club. The Ion Insurance Kids Fun Run is free for all Cheshire residents!
