Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists (COS) has announced that its Chief Financial Officer, Susan Bader, has been named a Fairfield County CFO of the Year by the Fairfield County Business Journal. "We are thrilled to have Susan's nationally recognized talent and experience acknowledged in this market," stated Glenn Elia, CEO of Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists. "She is an instrumental part of our efforts to bring a new level of orthopaedic innovation and convenience to Southern Connecticut.

The award recognizes the best financial decision-makers working in Fairfield County and examines how these CFOs and financial leaders make the most of business challenges through innovation and transformation. Ms. Bader and the other winners will be honored at an event on October 18th.
At COS, Ms. Bader has seen the practice grow into one of the largest independent orthopaedic practices in Connecticut with more than 50 physician specialists, 600 employees and 23 locations in Fairfield, New Haven and Middlesex counties. She is currently playing a key role in a new COS campus under construction in Wallingford as well as a new office to open in Fairfield proper in 2017.
According to Mr. Elia, Ms. Bader played a key role in merging four other orthopaedic groups into the COS practice and in integrating and training team members. She possesses more than 20 years of experience in all areas of accounting and finance, including five years as Director of Finance for Gap, Inc. She then assumed the role of CFO for U.S. Office Products division, McWhorter's, Inc. in San Jose, California, with sales of $100 million and 700+ employees. Prior to joining COS in 2011, Ms. Bader served as CFO for OR&L Facility Services, Inc. with offices in Branford, Connecticut, and Winter Park, Florida.
A Connecticut native who currently resides in Madison, Ms. Bader obtained a bachelor of arts at the University of Connecticut, Storrs. She began her MBA program at the University of Connecticut and then moved to San Francisco, where she completed her course work at the University of California, Berkeley's Haas School of Business.
